Just a Start

Have a feeling that the cutting out part takes the longest.

Washed and ready to iron and cut.  Exterior fabrics were a great deal.  Interior fabrics are stash.

Thought that I would cut out what I could while waiting on a good deal on interfacing.  I need a ton!

Happy Saturday!  (We are off to go roller skating!)

Blessings,

KT

Fall Cleanout in Progress

I have completely cleaned out two and a half rooms in my house.  Furniture has been moved in an effort to trick us into thinking we have give us more space. So the sewing room has been moved to the dining room.  I know you could tell, it still looks...so dining room-ish.  Have to leave it that way.  If we ever get to the point we can list our home, sewing stuff will have to move to storage, and this will magically become the dining room again.

In a time that now measures years ago, Dee and I purchased fabric alike to see how we use it differently.  She has had hers done forever.  Mine has sat neglected for years.  Until now.  I now have (almost) a beautiful table runner.  I have cut off the excess since the photo.

Played with the decorative stitches on my machine.  The pink is a lovely watermelon color.  Perfect for aqua.  Most of the fabrics were designed by Holly Holderman for Lakehouse Dry Goods...from years ago.

Added some scraps to the back, just because I love them.

The binding fabric has wonderful pearlized polka dots.  Hopefully I can make this binding this evening.  Under it is a sneak peak of my first quilt for selling.

Oh, and I bought a scrap bag from Sandi Henderson's website Portabella Pixie.  I figured I love all her fabric, so I couldn't go wrong.

Boy was that an understatement!

For Real!!  Trying really hard not to go buy another one!!  (What harm would one more WIP be?)

Blessings,

KT

Friday Finish...

Not yet finished making my blocks.  Loving the pattern, hating the bias.

As I finish the block sets, I am squaring up and putting the rows together.  Loving how they look!  Starting to get sick of working on them.

So, for a bit of distraction, I pulled these back out.  Blast from the past!  These just need to be squared and put together into a top.  They are even already marked with their order.  I got discouraged when I realized that a 96" by 108" quilt was never going to fit under my machine.  I think that I am going to try to find wool batting and send it off to the long arm quilter.  This will be our winter quilt for our bed.

Three rows finished!  Kinda breaking up the Kaleidoscope Monopoly of my sewing time!

Squares cut for an Itty Bitty block.

Finished fabric shopping with my Super Sister Chick Dee (well, for today anyway)!  ;0)
Bought the backing for Treasure's Neptune Quilt.

These lovelies also found their way into my fabric shopping bag.  (Still loving it Amy!)  The top two fabrics are for my Paganelli Pile, the bottom two are for stash, and the little fat eighths are for my scrappy double hourglass quilt.

Okay, so nothing really finished, but they will be and I am enjoying every minute of it!!

A Little Playing with Color

These came last week.  They are Bella solids that I won in a giveaway sponsored by the Fat Quarter Shop over at p.s.iquilt.  I have never used them before, and can't wait to try them out.  I won a luscious yard of each color!!  I have ordered from the Fat Quarter Shop before, and have had fast friendly service.  Thanks!

Got a great deal on these Jennifer Paganelli prints over at fabric.com

Since they all needed shelving, I thought that I would let them play a bit first.  Don't they play well together?

Well, out came my stash of Paganelli Charm squares.  Must....resist....urge....to start new quilt....Must finish other projects first.

Oh, these were out to play too.  But it is a secret.

Nope.  Not tellin'.

Okay, just a little sneak peak!

Linking up with WIP Wednesday.  Use the cute button on the side bar!

Wednesday Winner!!!

This past weekend Treasure took Friday off and we went on a weekend family trip.  As I was doing the open-mouth-jello-neck-head-bob, Treasure sighted a quilt shop.  He woke me and asked me if I wanted to stop.  (I gave him the perfect nickname!)  The lower pile of loveliness had to come home with me.  I think that it is called Oasis by Moda.  Any how, it was stash enhancement for the purpose of stash reduction!  The pile above it is some left-over civil war reproductions from my former quilty life.  I think that yellow is a welcome addition!!

Well, on to the real reason we are all here.

Number 42

Becky has won the two charm packs of Hushabye!!!!!  I will be emailing you for your address!

KT

JOY!!!!

As a rule, Mondays are days that I have to work at Joy.  Not this past Monday!!  These came from Amy, as a result of a comment I made on one of her blog posts.  Love them, and snatched the last two out of her etsy shop.  She sent me a hot tip via email that she now has more fabric in so more of these may be showing up soon in her shop!  Oh, and as I was working on the links for this post, I noticed she has some great Christmas prints.

Then, Monday evening I got to take a VIP out to a quilt shop and then dinner!!!  This was my indulgence, Anna Griffin's The Lizzie Collection (the words fabric is I think, Make Life).  I first saw them here.  Thanks Amanda Jean for inspiration!
The VIP chose the restaurant, and we enjoyed our fortune cookies!!  The top two were hers, the bottom one was mine.   Great Monday, much Joy!

Speaking of Joy, she is waiting on me to go get her!!!  Yay!!!  Maybe (but not likely) I will have a Friday Finish this week!!!  Double Yay!!!

Blessings and goldfishy kisses!

Fabric

Just Want to thank Randi for the fabulousness that she picked out for me.  You see, I have always been tempted with what online quilt shops call "scrap bags".  But, I always opt out before clicking buy, I am too afraid to get the bottom of the barrel, nobody wants it, butt ugly, fabric.  Well, Randi has this great etsy shop, and I have purchased beautiful fabrics from her.  In her shop she has listed fat quarters that are extras.  I finally went for it.  I was purchasing the pink Jennifer Paganelli Loopy Vintage Floral, and for not so much I let myself get this surprise!  Wow, she picked out these fat quarters for me with only a couple of designer names dropped!!  I love them!!!!!  Thanks Randi!!!!!
Be sure to visit her blog too!!!

Randi always puts these great charms (bonus!) in her packages too!  You can tell by how many I have, that I have done business several times at Fresh Squeezed Fabrics!!!

On the sewing front, still no machine!  I am going to have to drag my old Kenmore out of storage!!  (Anyone got a crane that I can borrow?)

Blessings,

KT

There's No Place Like Home!

Vacation was great!!!  Loved spending time with family and Dee's family.  Gulf Shores was wonderful.  We were not bothered by the oil, so don't be afraid to go!!!  God gave us beautiful days, and time to contemplate the direction of our family.

He also gave us a little fabric!!  Found this Flea Market Fancy at a warehouse called Fabrics by the Pound near Summerdale AL.  If you are near there, I bought the last of the fabric on the leftt, but there is more of the fabric on the right, as well as a couple more prints!  These are decorator weight.  Dee found the first one, and says that I didn't grab it out of her hands, but I think I did...Sorry!!!  Treasure and I are looking at a house that has interior colors along these lines, and cathedral ceilings so we wouldn't be painting until we could pay to have it done!!  We will see...

Trying to get back in the hang of things.  It is taking more time than I like, but trying to keep the blessings of the beach in my heart!!!

Blessings,

KT

If I have told you once...

I have told you at least twice now, "I am a ding-bat!"

Recently I was tidying up my buttons on my side bar.  I accidentally deleted one, but couldn't remember which.  (Hold on, we aren't even to the ding-bat part yet!)  Later the same day I got a Quilt Home newsletter in my inbox.  Ding-dong!  That is the button!  Not only that, but there is a contest to win fabric from them if I have their button on my blog.  Did I ever sign up for that?  So I emailed them to ask.  Within a couple of hours (seriously) Carl emailed me back.  Not only was I signed up, but I was the winner February 17, 2010!!!!  Usually they only give you a couple of weeks to use the gift certificate.  They graciously gave this ding-bat a second chance!!!

My Paganelli pile no longer lacks yellow!  I now have all the henna garden currently available.  And they had the Farmer's Market Dahlia that I used up on skirts!!!  Ah...I may have spent more than my gift certificate!

Oh, and just so you know, the fabric was in my hands Friday!!  You can check out Quilt Home by clicking on the button, now safely replaced on my side bar!

Out of curiosity, I checked my blog to see what was going on in my life around that time that I would miss out so.  There you have it, She Sews and Scraps tried to tell me in the first comment!!

Blessings,

KT

Some sewing, but more telling!

Made a new skirt to replace the one that was too short.  I have a niece that the too short one might fit, so my only worry is that I don't have anymore of the pink Mat's Tux, Jennifer Paganelli fabric left.  The more I used it, the more I liked it!  I have ordered more of the Farmers Market Dahlia, by Sandi Henderson.  I know.....
Cut these with the scraps.  Didn't get around to sewing them...yet!
These are cut, marked and pinned.  They are waiting patiently to be sewn.  Then I will be caught up  with my Pinwheel Party blocks.
I have been saving this fabric for something special, and now I know what it is.  More skirts!!!!  I only have a yard of each print, so these skirts should be perfect.  I am making one for me even!!!!  (That bottom fabric is mine!)  Measurements are all figured.  If I like the skirt, I might make myself a couple more! (Think "Nicey Jane" and "Paganelli")

Don't forget to visit all the other Friday Finishes by clicking on the Sew & Tell button on my sidebar!

Mother's Day Blessings!

Scattered Thoughts

Spent the weekend with family.  Mom came and brought me a birthday present.  Don't you just love Holly Hobby, or is it just me?
I actually got a fat quarter bundle of these beauties.  I just had to show you the panel!
Here are the rest of them!  Thanks Mom!!!  It might be just because my birthday is so close to Valentine's Day, but I have discovered that I have a thing for Valentine's fabric.
Or maybe it is because Treasure is such a great guy.  Okay, both!!  Not normally a red person, but these were just too cute.  The bottom three fabrics are actually stash.  Don't they look good?!
This is my baby quilt!!  It hangs in my room, still!
My great aunt made it many years ago.  Love those bunnies.  It makes me think of how important blankets are to children.  So this year, I am setting a goal for my self to make charity quilts.  Something for charity every month.  Skirts for Haiti counted as January.
This is my February offering for project Linus.  I made it out of cheater fabric I had and didn't know what to do with.  Used satin blanket binding, but put it on like normal quilt binding.  As a young child, my nightie (read blankie) had satin binding that was my favorite part.  I am tactile, among other things!!  Thought a child would like the soft satin like I did.  Plus, I don't much care for making binding!!
On an unrelated note, my Kona petal came in, and I think that it will work perfectly for my pinwheel quilt along background!  Now I have to wait until March 1 for the instructions to begin...can you hear the pout?

Thursday, February 18, 2010

Well, I'm a ding-bat.

Well, I am almost done with the quilting of the signature quilt.  So last night I went looking for the grape juice purple that I saved back for the binding.  It wasn't where I put it, or so I thought.

Do you see it?
I do!!!  No, I didn't think about it as I cut it out, or as I sewed it.  I love purple, and I love little Haitian girls (I would bring one home to keep if I could).  All I thought was how pretty a little dark skinned girl was going to look in that purple.  Well, she will!!
One definition of sacrifice:  "a giving up, destroying, permitting injury to, or forgoing of some valued thing for the sake of something of greater value or having a more pleasing claim."
Mine was inadvertent, at first.  Now I can give it up wholeheartedly.  Tomorrow I can laugh about it!! ;0)  Today I have to go to Jo Ann's!!
These fabrics are interviewing for a position on my pinwheel quilt along.  Sorry that the picture is so yellow, didn't realize it until now.  (I edited it to be more like the true colors if you check out my photostream.)  I think that the one to the left will be the binding.  Going to order some kona for the background.  Not telling what color!  Okay, so I spilt the beans when posting the edited picture!

Package from FedEx came!!  Yay!!!  Not telling!!

Thinking about doing the purple charm chain letter, 'cause you know how I love purple.  As I was looking for the binding fabric I realized that I really don't have much of it!!  Before I sign up, is anyone else interested?  I would need to send my squares to four others willing to do the chain!  I don't want to sign up if no one else is interested.  No pressure.  (I love purple!)

KT

KT's Chaos Continues: The Giveaway!

Today I have:  finished signing my siggy swap blocks, put the first border on my first siggy quilt, done two loads of laundry, and managed to keep the house running in order.  This begs the question, "Is multi-tasking the root of all evil absent-mindedness?".
To celebrate surviving the chaos that was yesterday, I am going to share ALL of the above pictured Flea Market Fancy with one of you.  This is my first giveaway, so please go easy on me!

1.  One entry per person.  For kicks, tell me some of the crazy things you have absent-mindedly done!!! (Just for fun, not required.)
2.  You are welcome to blog about this or start following my blog, but since this is my first time out, NO EXTRA ENTRIES.  I think that it will just be easier on me.  Remember, I have been a little muddled!

Deadline for entry is 9 p.m. ET Friday evening.
I will try to use a random number generator to pick the winner, but no promises that I will be able to figure that out at this point!  I will draw names if need be.
I will do my best to announce the winner Monday morning. :0)

Remember to make sure I have your email information, you wouldn't want to miss out on FMF!
Blessings to you all!

Do these people not sleep?

I placed a couple fabric orders late Friday night.  I got some of the fabric in Monday's mail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  How in the world?!?!?!  Now, I am only today getting shipping confirmation on the other orders, and that is totally reasonable, but to already have beautiful fabric in my hot, greedy little hands......well, that is just insanely quick!!
Want to see?

More Wildwood, for my siggy swap and Dolce.  Yum!

Meadow Sweet (for some reason the print on the bottom reminds me of the Orange Blossom perfume that my Grandparents always brought me back from Florida when I was little!) and more Dolce.

I was trying not to buy more fabric, but these are for already planned quilts.  Well, most of them!  That is my excuse, and I am sticking to it!!!

Where did I get this speedy, quick fabric you ask?

And a nice little magnet calendar too!!

Wow, they're good!

Blessings,
KT
