KT's Chaos Continues: The Giveaway!

Today I have:  finished signing my siggy swap blocks, put the first border on my first siggy quilt, done two loads of laundry, and managed to keep the house running in order.  This begs the question, "Is multi-tasking the root of all evil absent-mindedness?".
To celebrate surviving the chaos that was yesterday, I am going to share ALL of the above pictured Flea Market Fancy with one of you.  This is my first giveaway, so please go easy on me!

1.  One entry per person.  For kicks, tell me some of the crazy things you have absent-mindedly done!!! (Just for fun, not required.)
2.  You are welcome to blog about this or start following my blog, but since this is my first time out, NO EXTRA ENTRIES.  I think that it will just be easier on me.  Remember, I have been a little muddled!

Deadline for entry is 9 p.m. ET Friday evening.
I will try to use a random number generator to pick the winner, but no promises that I will be able to figure that out at this point!  I will draw names if need be.
I will do my best to announce the winner Monday morning. :0)

Remember to make sure I have your email information, you wouldn't want to miss out on FMF!
Blessings to you all!

KT

  4. Ooh lovely, what a gorgeous giveaway! I am always doing absent minded things, my worst is double booking myself, due to not putting things in my diary or sheer forgetfulness. Last week I made a huge clanger and now one of my best friends is furious with me. I must remember, I must remember!!

  5. congrats!! i can always use more fmf...can't resist!
my fav absent minded moment was making about a 100 half square triangles and sewing ON the line instead of a quarter inch on each side...i was in the groove and that line just called to me...SEW HERE! not too fun ripping all those apart and doing it over.

  6. Great giveaway...I'm always misplacing my keys and have done tons of sewing mishaps like Jacquie - just recently I was sewing an apron for my sister and sewed the bottom part on backwards.

  7. There has to be a first time for everything--like last week when I apparently unloaded clean dishes from the drainer to the REFRIDGERATOR! Yes, my good husband found them and was really very nice about it. This lovely fabric would be a good way to drown my embarrassment, too. Thank you.

  8. Oh goodness... it feels like much of life is absent-minded these days! Most recently I sewed sashing on double digits of blocks sideways. That's no fun. I will admit that I judge the success of a grocery shopping trip by the amount of time between leaving the store and remembering something I forgot. Thanks for the giveaway, and have a lovely day!

  9. I think being a law student allows me to be absent minded on occasion. The funniest lately? Giving my cat my waffles and sitting down to a plate full of cat food for breakfast, that one had me laughing out loud when I realized my mistake and saw the look on my cat's face...

  10. of course please count me in..it is so great of you to share! i am absentminded a lot, usually it involves me walking somewhere to get or do something and then having no idea why i am there...then i have to go back and retrace my steps until my mind gets triggered again.

  11. What a nice giveaway! Thanks so much for sharing. :) I haven't done anything major lately due to my absentmindedness, but I lose my keys on an almost daily basis and when I go to the store for something specific, I usually forget to buy it.

  12. I LOVE LOVE LOVE these fabrics...they would look great in my stash!!! *wink wink* Absent-mindedness is one of my fabulous traits...recently...I quickly grabbed my 20 month old son out of his carseat (I'm late for work at this point) and put him down on the ground (snow-covered)to walk up to the sitter's door...only to realize that he kicked off his boots in the van!!! Cheers!

  13. Well let's just say that the only missed calls I get on my cell phone are from me on my home phone trying to find it! My family does a lot of eye rolling when I'm on one phone trying to find the other. Anyway, thanks for the chance at owning such lovely fabric. Your blog is wonderful. :)

  16. Fabulous giveaway! I've never even seen FMF in real life - would love to win some! As for being absent minded, where do I begin? Well, I am a professor, so I have to be absent-minded - it's in my contract, lol!

  17. Thanks for the giveaway. When my son was about 6 months old (& not interested in solids) we went to a book party. We had been there for some time and just as I was getting ready to leave and walk home he started to get real whinging and cry. I'm like my goodness how is that for timing. What on earth is the matter. I had completely forgotten that he was so overdue for a feed. I mean by a couple of hours. Boy talk about hopeless. I think the host was very surprised I could forget such a thing and didn't immediately connect the dots when he started crying. Mind you my son was pretty good at reminding me it was food time.

  18. Sigh..... being absent minded hits me most every day! Today as I was hand sewing my grandmother's flower garden hexagons together, I was making great progress! I had the TV on for racket and a particularly interesting something caught my attention. When it went off, I looked down and noticed I had sewed a hexagon on backwards.......

I would love to be included in the giveaway!

  19. So generous! Thanks for the chance to win - as for absent-minded behavior... I've poured orange juice into my cereal too many times to count. Not good.

  20. What gorgeous fabric! Thanks for a chance to win it! When my son was just a baby I would get up in the middle of the night to feed and change him. One morning I woke up to a dirty diaper all over the place. I had put the diaper on very crooked, as in only one butt cheek was covered. But in my defense, I did read somewhere that a woman's brain shrinks 3% with each pregnancy. I don't know if its true, but I'm going with it!

  21. What a great giveaway!

Me? Absentminded? Um, I got dressed the other morning and in grabbing my socks (I swear, they both looked black), I realized once I got to work that one was black and one was blue. That was one of the few days I was delighted to sit at my desk all day!

Oh, and I am NOT a morning person, so most random acts of absentmindedness happen while I'm getting ready for work. Put the coffee filters back in the fridge with the coffee, that sort of thing. ALL the time!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Thanks for the chance! Great giveaway and I do follow your blog already.

I was pretty absetminded when I was pregnant 5 years ago but I can't remember anything specific.

  23. Absent minded = Leslie! seriously, there isn't a day that goes by that I do something dorky! plus I am the worlds biggest klutz! so put both of the qualities together and picture that! it's not a pretty site!
Thanks for the chance at the giveaway, I have one peice of FMF in my stash and I really NEED (want) more!

  28. Oh, my goodness, KT, I am the most absent minded person I know, and I'm sure my husband would agree! My mind is ALWAYS somewhere else and I pay very little attention to tiny tasks that we do every day; for example, finding my shoes and keys is a recurrent problem. Or, I may put a nonfood item away in the refrigerator or freezer. Anyway, you are WAY to generous in giving away some of your FMF!

  29. Lovely giveaway. The most absent minded thing I've done lately was walk out of the house with one brown shoe and one black shoe. It didn't even sink in until it was already too late...oh well! New fashion trend I guess.

  30. Wow, thank you for such a wonderful give-away. I'm absent minded pretty much all of the time - mostly becuase my almost 2 year old son is a terrible sleeper! So now, I'm so absent minded I can't even think of anything. Congrats on such a productive day.

  31. What a great and generous giveaway for your first! I am so absent minded some mornings that I have to turn around on the way to work and go home to make sure I closed the garage, turned off the iron etc....

  32. Thanks for a great giveaway and wonderful blog. I had a moment today . . . my two little two year old "helpers" were in the bathroom with me getting ready and I sprayed my hair with you guessed it my antiperspirant. The upside I did get to shower again in peace!

  33. Wow; thanks for this giveaway! It may be my only chance to score some of this fabulous FMF.

I seem to have so many absent minded moments, it is hard to pick just one out. Most of them revolve around me getting in the car and proceeding to drive somewhere, and either (1) completely forget where I am going, or (2) end up somewhere other than where I had originally intended. My children think it's great fun!

  34. Absent minded? Me? I don't recall....

Nice blog- I just signed up to follow. Your blog will be a nice addition to my reading list.

Since I own a shop, I always feel weird signing up for a fabric giveaway. If I win, I'll use it for a charity quilt.

Thanks for the chance- giveaways are fun for the givers and the winners!

  35. I can not tell you how many times I have burnt the rice or boiling eggs and let the water go out of them....I just forget.....now I have a rice cooker and a timer which helps.

What a wonderful giveaway and I would be happy to post about it.....

  36. What a lovely giveaway!
Absentminded is my middle name . I have to set alarms for everything. I have 2 timers on my oven and I use them constantly otherwise my home would turn into a smoke house.
My friends know that if an appointment isn't written in my phone calendar (complete with alarm) I won't make it.

Funny incidents? Well one time I was preparing coffee getting out the coffee, milk, cups when I realised the kettle of freshly boiled water had dissappeared! Eventually I looked in the fridge and there is was steaming away furiously on one of the shelves.

  40. I feel better already after reading the comments above mine - it's nice not to be alone. I put my cell phone in the big chest freezer once when putting groceries away - lost it for a week. For just plain stupidity
I gave the wooden ironing board I inherited from my MIL to the local charity just before I got back into quilting and sewing. Just like the one in your previous post. Thanks for the giveway and throwing my name in you have a lovely blog.

  41. Beautiful giveaway. Usually I am absent minded on remembering to take something important with me when I go out unless it is right in front of my nose. Usually it is something I am supposed to give someone who I am meeting that day. "Doh! I forgot to bring you the x... silly me."

  44. Oohh, Flea Market Fancy? So amazing! I absent mindedly walk into things all the time; it's usually pretty funny, except for two weeks ago when I ended up smacking my temple off the living room wall and had a giant bump on my forehead for four days! Actually, some to think of it, that's still pretty funny!

  45. If having continuous senior moments counts towards absentmindness, count me in. I can walk into a room several times and not remember what it was I was going to do. Pretty fabric, so please enter me in your giveaway.

  46. Love the fabric! One of my absentminded things I do all the time is put my seat belt on in the garage, then I have to take it off when I back out so that I can get out to go close the door (no door openers/closers here!). - Marlene

  52. I realized when going to run a bath this morning that I completely forgot to pay my gas bill. I honestly don't even remember getting the bill OR a disconnect notice! The embarrasing thing is that it was only $25 dollars! No hot water until tomorrow. How stupid!

Good luck with your giveway! I'm hosting my first giveaway, too. Please check it out.

  55. I call these my Senior moments, hey I am now a senior and I am allowed to do some goofy things. After all whats the fun in being a senior without them. My most recent moment was last night, I was searching the frozen land of my freezer and I took out a container of Ice Cream and sat it on the counter. After removing more items and finding what I was looking for I started to close the door but alas something just didn't look right, the ice cream was missing, and it wasn't on the counter, I FOUND it in the fridge. I really don't know how it got there, but bring that I was the only human in the house it had to be me... Senior Moment

  56. My absent minded things tend to involve shoes...well those are two that I can come up with quickly...1) at a youth group meeting, among the many shoes piled up, I grabbed a pair of shoes just like mine and prepped to go home; the real owner came out wondering who took HIS shoes. I hadn't even noticed they were a couple of sized too big...I thought they were mine and out I was going! Emberrassing!!! 2) I often just change without turning on a light in the bedroom, the light from the hall being adaquate. I was dressing for church and put on short heeled shoes and off I went. On the tile floor at church I noticed one shoe 'clipped' and one was whisper quiet. I looked down and they were two different shoes!!!! Oh dear, I must sound like I'm ready for the nut house...don't send them please!

  59. I'm always doing little absent minded things. I have been known to get all my things and kids outta the car and start to walk away and realize I forgot to turn it off!!!
Thanks for such a great give away!!

  60. I've read some of the other people's absent minded things and can relate to lots of them. One I didn't was many years ago (I'm showing my age) I was heating a baby bottle in a pan of simmering water and forgot about it. So....the pan boiled dry and the bottle broke, it was glass. At least it didn't explode all over the kitchen. I've also gone to work with 2 different shoes, left my pants zipper down (very embarassing) etc...............

  61. Fabulous give away, I hope I win, I hope I win. The crazy thing I do, is drive on "automatic". I'll head out to a destination. and get on the freeway, headed to work (Barnes and Noble)!, instead of my original plan. It's happened more than once.

  62. Congrats and a great giveaway.

Well seeing how I'm way up there in years I've done alot of crazy things. But this week I filled the washer with water/suds .... forgot to put in the clothes. It took several minutes to realize the clothes didn't go down the drain but we're still on the floor.

Throw me in the pot. thanks.

Craziest thing...? Saying to my husband "we should have just one more". We are too impulsive. In a good way I guess.

  64. Love the beautiful fabrics. I'm always absent minded, but usually with boring things, like forgetting where I parked the car, or muddling childrens names.

  65. Hi! My absent minded-ness today was sewing the center of some blocks...they looked fine until I noticed I had sewn the center square in with the wrong side showing...sigh...What lovely fabrics! I'm trying to rebuild my stash and these would fit in perfectly:)

  66. What a way to inaugurate your first giveaway!!! You are very generous. You did quite a bit today. I just now cut my printed fabric for the siggy blocks. I need to get on the ball. The latest example of my absent mindedness is after making my breakfast, I put the oatmeal container in the refrigerator rather than back in the pantry. Not the most exciting example but the only one I can think of at the moment. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.

  68. I loved reading your blog. It seems that whenever I lose something I must look in the back yard. We have a little thief in the house that likes to grab, run through the doggie door and looks to see what she has. Yesterday I found one of my slippers and a small container of powdered cheddar cheese for popcorn.

  70. Oh my goodness, those are lovely fabrics! Aren't you nice! Gosh, I have done so many absent minded things while pregnant or tired in the sleepless non pregnant months. I think that because I am still in the sleepless non pregnant stage with my daughter, I am not with it enough to think of any right now!!! If I think of a good one, I will email it your way for kicks. It will probably come to me later :)

  71. What a beautiful giveaway and all these posts lol! Now I don't feel so bad, especially when the poster is a lot younger than me....not hard to do.
I am so absentminded that at this moment the only one I can think of is the time I was looking all over the house for my glasses...and you guessed it they were on top of my head but the worst part is that there were TWO PAIR there!!!! Now that is forgetfulness, if you ask me!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Ok, I was reading the posts and laughing again. There is one in there that reminds me of the other day. I had to move my truck in front of the second garage door so when I left I forgot it was there and swung out like I have to turn around and hit my truck! How many people hit their own rigs? SheilaC. and I have something in common. Luckily, there was no damage! :D

  75. Lovely fabric! Just the other day, I used up some ripe bananas to make banana bread which is something I do every few weeks. Makes a good after-school snack, you know. So I set the oven, put the pans in, set the timer and when it went off, I checked the bread. It was still very pale, hadn't risen to that nice dome down the middle, and didn't seem very warm. I checked the oven temp and it was only set at 250! Aaack! I set the temp up another 100 degrees and left the bread in for another little while. Thankfully it came out quite well, all things considered. But what in the world was I thinking setting the oven to only 250? Who knows!
