Disclaimer: Bad quilty pictures ahead, Winter in progress!
Actually got this together last week, but Friday was too hectic to post. So here she is in all her glory, and I call her "Henna Love". I still just love these fabrics. The solid is Kona ash. The tutorial I used says to cut off and straighten the edges, but I am considering leaving it the way it is. Seems a shame to lose even a smidgen of that Henna Garden print! Of course leaving it this way it is means binding will be less than enjoyable...advice would be welcome! I wish that the ironing fairy had shown up today, have any of you seen her?
Just took this picture a few minutes ago. (In my dark, poorly lit living room, sorry!) This quilt has always been called in my head, "Orange Blossom Perfume". Whenever my grandma and grandpa went to Florida they would bring me some Orange Blossom Perfume. This quilt makes me almost smell it. Putting it together has made memories return, and a few tears flow...with joy.
Update: I have batting for Orange Blossom, and the batting for Henna Love is on order. Finishing up backs!! Be sure to visit the other Fabric Tuesday links by clicking on the Fabric Tuesday button on my right side bar!!
Blessings,
KT
I have an idea....why not get your the backing, lay the quilt face done on the backing....make sure that the quilt is as flat and tight as can be and just sew around the outside and then trim away at the seams when done...you may need to take a light snip where each triangle meets....then quilt as desired????? It will be adorable.
ReplyDeleteThat is a perfect name for that quilt. Yummmmmm
ReplyDeleteWow, KT, what a treat to see these quilt tops! Henna Love is beautiful, but I just flipped over Orange Blossom Perfume! It reminds me of Kodachrome photos of my childhood in the 60s. So sunny and perfect for beating the winter blahs! Get that quilted up right away!
ReplyDeleteHaving seen both quilts up close and personal...I'd like them both please!
ReplyDeleteHad fun today! Love ya muchly!
I love these quilts! I did what Barb said in my hexagon runner. It works, but you would have to pin, pin, pin. You wouldn't want the batting to bunch up. I used an ugly flannel, instead of regular batting, and plan to do this in my large quilt version. Maybe it could be a summer henna love quilt? Check out my hexagon tutorial pictures to get a visual.
ReplyDeleteNow you have me wanting to buy everyone one of the Henna colors!
ReplyDeleteand your orange blossom perfume quilt! GORGEOUS!!! I think that is the perfect name :)
Thanks for sharing your beauties!
Love Henna Garden....can't wait to see the finished result! I think your choice in Kona Ash really accents all of the beautiful colors!
ReplyDeletebeautiful! I love both your quilts!
ReplyDeletebeautiful quilts! i love how you did the zig zag!
ReplyDeleteKT, both of your quilts are lovely! I love the zig zag quilt with the Henna and Kona fabrics. Hope you decide to keep the zig zag edges...that would be totally cool! Orange Blossom Perfume is perfectly named.
ReplyDeleteLove them both! I want to make a zig zag! Thanks for linking up to Quiltstory!
